SO we were supposed to be leaving on our tour bus at 7 am. I get a call from Larry –“you are not going to believe this,” he said. And then continues to tell me (and the rest of the band) that our tour bus broke down on the way to pick us up—so…no TOUR BUS.. a great way to start the trip. It all ended up working out. We took a van to philidelphia and got on a 1:30 pm plane direct to Jacksonville. When we got there, there was another bus there to pick us up.

Chris, our bad-ass bus driver made sure we were comfortable…we stopped to get the normal amenities…food and alcohol for our trip. We parked ourselves behind the stage we would be playing on, got settled and then went to Hooters for dinner, jumped around to a few bars and loosened up in Jacksonville.

We woke up real early as we didn’t know what the day would hold for us.
We had the pleasure of going to Larry’s friend’s apartment to shower and get clean…there was no shower on the bus. (THANKS BULZ!!) the rest of the day was pretty much spent watching the crew unload Hank William’s Jr. and Blues Traveler’s equipment on stage…and getting psyched for the show.

It was rainy and gray all day, but it didn’t matter. We were so pumped just to playing on that stage with those legends that a little rain would not get in the way.

We hit the stage at about 5.45 after being introduced by Radio Personality Robbie Rose with a decent crowd and we did our thing…and we did it well. The audience loved it and we had such a good time playing. Needless to say Blues Traveler and Hank Williams Jr. were fantastic.

Elijah was totally in his element and wowed the crowd with his solos.
Larry, Ron and JC looked cool as ever and sounded even cooler. And I was having a ball up there. Actually on a stage big enough to walk around and dance to the music. Amazing…
Not to mention we had bunkmates and lots of friends there to help cheer us on (Robert, Osh, Dee, Mark).

Now we are feeling like we know what to expect, and it’s finally a beautiful day, so we get up, have some breakfast in the food tent, shower and take in the city…I knew there was a reason we were actually in Jacksonville of all places….there was going to be a superbowl in a few days. So we walked along the river landing, watched all the football fans, saw my friend Darren Rovell (ESPN sports business reporter) do a 10 minute piece on superbowl merchandise and hung out for a while.

By then time we got back to the stage, Willie Nelson and Los Lonely Boys were almost done setting up. We had a quick sound check and opened at about 5.30 & were introduced by Dee and Shotgun from the local Clear Channell Radio Station. They threw out our CD’s and Shirts and away we went.

This show was better than the night before. It seemed like again, the crowd loved us. We played a solid set and got everyone into it. Audience members bought our cds, and we signed autographs and had a blast.

Then the party began…or should I say continued.

I have never seen Los Lonely Boys play live, and let me tell you, they can play. I was really impressed with them, as was the crowd. And Willie Nelson…well I don’t even have to say it—I mean the man is a legend.

We were lucky enough to get on his tour bus and hang out with him and his band, Burt Reynolds and Rob Schneider. Everyone there couldn’t have been more welcoming and genuine. It was a blast.

So we move on from here…hopefully to more shows like this and lets not turn backwards. Everyone that was there with us…Carole, Jean, Wally, Steven, Lenny, Bucky and all the friends and fans that drove from near and far to watch….thank you so much. It was amazing to have you there and all of your help was unbelievable. We truly appreciate it.

Can’t wait until next time.
We will keep everyone posted.

Check back for video clips—coming soon.

Much Love,
